As the program committee is in the process of accepting papers and establishing the final program for the 2009 APS conference to be held April 23-26, 2009 at Loyola College in Maryland, I would like to remind people to register for the conference online as soon as possible.
Early registration online through our conference registration page with the Philosophy Documentation Center is available through March 28, 2009. After that date, registration will cost an extra $20.

A block of rooms is saved under the name of the Ancient Philosophy Society. The group rate should be $119 per night with a maximum of two people per room.

I recognize that the program committee is no doubt busy reviewing graduate applications in addition to selecting papers for the conference, but can you give us a definite idea of when we will know about the status of our submissions? I’m currently in the awkward situation of having to put off confirming my participation in another conference, also in April, until I hear back about this submission because I have prioritized the APS. I’m guessing I’m not the only one in this situation.
@anonymous Thanks for this comment and I certainly understand your position. We regret the time it has taken to respond to those who have submitted papers this year. Thank you all for your patience.
We have started contacting some of those who have had papers accepted onto the program. We are in the process of contacting the last of these in the next few days. Once that is done, we will be contacting others to see if they would be willing to serve as commentators. At the same time, we will be contacting those whose papers were not accepted.
The number of excellent papers we received this year has caused the delay because we are trying to think creatively about how to include as many as possible without undermining the sense of close community we have historically had at the APS.
My hope is that everyone who submitted papers will be contacted in one way or another this week.
